Ana Varges Gomes, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), was invited by the European Society of Medical Oncology to participate in the ESMO congress, which takes place from 9 to 13 September in Paris.
The CHUA president will be one of the invited moderators for the session with the theme «Cancer of the head and neck», which will take place on 10 September, and where oral communications will be presented and discussed that reflect the most recent clinical trials in the area. of head and neck cancer.
Specialist in medical oncology and having held several positions in this area, Ana Varges Gomes is also the author and co-author of several articles published in scientific journals, principal investigator and co-investigator in several clinical trials, one of which she authored.
The congress in which the president will participate is promoted by the European Society of Medical Oncology and brings together “the most renowned doctors and researchers in the field of oncology, bringing to debate the most recent results of investigations and communications”, says the CHUA in a note.
ESMO has, among its main objectives, the promotion of the quality of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, supportive and palliative care, as well as the monitoring of patients with malignant diseases, disseminating knowledge to cancer patients and the public and educating and training people involved. in cancer care and clinical research.
