Portimonense beat Chaves by 1-0, in a game played this Friday, September 16th, in the municipal district of Portimão, counting for the I Liga.

The game started intense, with both teams looking for the goal. And the first big opportunity even belonged to Chaves, in the 13th minute, with Héctor Hernández heading the post.

The visiting team threatened, but the Algarve team took the lead, after 19 minutes. The referee signaled a penalty for Juninho's foul on Luquinha. Called to score the maximum punishment, Paulo Estrela did not fail and gave Portimonense a 1-0 lead.

Portimão's team, despite having the advantage, did not stop looking for the goal and was very close to 2-0, in the 25th minute, but Róchez headed the crossbar.

And it wouldn't be the only Algarve ball in the iron. In the 43rd minute, and after Portimonense had created several opportunities, Welinton hit the bar.

Portimonense didn't score and, in the second half, got a big scare, but goalkeeper Nakamura denied Hernández the goal in the 61st minute.

Winning, Portimonense lowered the intensity, but Chaves couldn't fight back and make the draw, despite having shown willingness to do so.

In added time, the center of Flavienses Steven Vitória saw a direct red card, for stopping Welinton when he was running isolated to the area.

Until the end, the result did not change and Portimonense got the three points.

With this result, Portimonense remains, on condition, in 4th position in the I Liga, with 15 points in seven matches.
