Olhão Municipal Police creates Mobile Traffic School

In the future, the Escolinha de Trânsito Móvel will be taken by the Municipal Police to all schools in the county.

The Mobile Traffic School, created by the Municipal Police of Olhão, has been operating within the scope of the European Mobility Week, which runs until next Friday, contemplating a set of activities, dedicated to the most diverse audiences.

The Mobile Traffic School, open not only to the school public, but also to all children who visit Jardim Pescador Olhanense during Mobility Week, aims to educate, in a playful way, children to create, from an early age, citizenship and safety habits with regard to road traffic, by car, bicycle, but also on foot.

“Once sensitized, the children take these messages home, also acting as agents for disseminating the rules they have learned and for changing the behavior of their elders”, as the Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Isabel Lobo, explains.

In practice, the little ones are invited to be “drivers” on a mini-circuit road, along which they learn fundamental road safety habits, such as respect for traffic signs, or the danger of talking on the cell phone while driving.

In the future, the Escolinha de Trânsito Móvel will be taken by the Municipal Police to all schools in the county, “always with the aim of educating drivers of the future, so that they are more civilized and respectful of others”, concludes Isabel Lobo.
