Lagoa promoted a meeting to share best practices in the area of Education

The meeting aimed to share good practices among the school community

The IV Municipal Meeting on Innovation in Education: “Sharing good practices” took place on 13 September, in Lagoa, in an initiative promoted by the local municipality and which involved the team from the University of Algarve and the municipality's school groups.

The Lagoa City Council once again held a meeting aimed at sharing good practices among the school community, “as part of a broad and sustained process of improving the entire educational community”, stressed the municipality.

During the day, 17 presentations took place that once again reflected the richness, diversity and innovation of pedagogical practices, from pre-school to secondary education, in the most diverse areas and in conjunction with various educational actors.

Practices were presented that encompassed different objectives, such as, 1) reducing the time spent by teachers in the execution of their daily tasks; 2) promote the teaching-learning-assessment process; 3) look at science with a new lens, that is, as an integral part of life beyond the classroom space; 4) raise awareness of a school culture where everyone finds opportunities to learn and to be empathetic; and 5) knowing the cultural identity of the territory.

«Emotions, affections and socio-emotional skills were also protagonists of this space, thus reinforcing its importance in the global development and school success of students», adds the Câmara de Lagoa.

Pedagogical practices were also made known that allowed for moments of sharing and curricular articulation between Pre-School and 1st Cycle, as a strategy to support the quality of the students' transition.

In addition to these aspects, it is also important to highlight the relevance of practices that seek to better understand the motivation of students to attend secondary education in the Padre António Martins de Oliveira School Group.

This grouping presented its competence development program that allows young people to successfully carry out their school tasks, improve their school performance, be autonomous and responsible for their learning process.

Finally, two guiding documents for the Municipality of Lagoa were presented, the Municipal Strategic Education Plan and the Municipal Educational Activities Program.

The municipality of Lagos emphasizes that «this meeting once again brought together a set of practices inspired by a school model that aims to promote the success of all, of a culture of autonomy, flexibility and inclusion, which enhances quality learning and is aligned with the current and future needs of students and society.

“This meeting is extremely important for the Municipality and for the school community. It is a meeting that allows us to continue to grow and learn, with each other, and to continue to provide a quality service to our children and young people, in the area of education», acknowledged Luís Encarnação, president of the Municipality of Lagoon.
