Seniors Support Office Faro marks 10 years with meeting of good practices

The Elderly Support Office, throughout its 10 years of life, has been accompanying senior citizens from Faro and/or their relatives

The Elderly Support Office of the Municipality of Faro will mark 10 years of life with a ““Meeting to Understand: Good Practices in Working with the Elderly”, to take place on the 30th of September, in the Great Auditorium of the University of Algarve (UAlg), in Gambelas.

The objective of this event is to «share good practices and experiences in working with the elderly, by institutions in the municipality of Faro, as well as the rest of the Algarve region and the country'.

The idea is also «to envision the new challenges and possible responses to matters related to ageing», explains the municipality of Faro.

The Elderly Support Office, throughout its 10 years of life, has been accompanying senior citizens from Faro and/or their relatives, residing in the municipality of Faro.

In the morning, several entities from the municipality of Faro (Sports Division of the Municipality of Faro, Provectus, ARPI – Association of Retired and Pensioners of Faro, Red Cross Faro-Loulé, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Faro, Espaço Saúde em Diálogo and Associação Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes da Culatra).

In the afternoon, there will be a round table with external entities (Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Albufeira, Municipality of Castro Marim, Repensa – Portuguese Network for Healthy and Active Aging, Polytechnic Institute of Beja – Up Again Senior and Associação Dignitude).

The day will end with speeches by Pedro Mota Soares (former minister of Solidarity, Labor and Social Security) and Manuel de Lemos (president of the National Secretariat of the União das Misericórdias).

The organization will provide free lunch to the first 200 registrants.
