Berbigão Festival returns to Figueira

On the 10rd and 11th of September

The Berbigão Festival is back in Figueira, Portimão, on the 10th and 11th of September, between 19pm and 00am, with various gastronomic and cultural proposals.

The event bets on typical dishes from the Algarve column, such as cockle pasta, cockle rice, cockle porridge, cockle patties or natural cockle, all made on site, complemented with regional sweets and pastries, as well as other food and drinks. .

«Figueira has been organizing this festival for 18 years as a way of honoring a mollusc that has deep roots among the local population, as the cockle harvest in the Ria de Alvor is lost in the mists of memory, and the business of selling it has supported many families since ancient times», says the Portimão City Council in a note.

The musical program will feature the accordionist Humberto Silva, which will be followed, at 22:30 pm, by a show by the portimonense fado singer João Leote, accompanied by the guitarist by Gonçalo Rosa and Bruno Davide. On Sunday, after the performance of the accordionist Vera Lúcia, the show of the night will be in charge of Saúl.

Tickets cost 3,50 euros, and the Berbigão Festival is organized by Sociedade Recreativa Figueirense, with the support of the Portimão City Council and the Mexilhoeira Grande Parish Council.
