The photography exhibition “Último Posto de Fronteira”, a work by Jorge Marques that shows the territory of Vila do Bispo during the period of confinement, will be on display at the Fortress of Sagres, from 10 September to 4 October.

The inauguration will take place on Saturday, the 10th, at 18:00, in the multipurpose room of the monument, with the presence of the photographer.

The exhibition is promoted by the association Questão Repetida, with the support of the General Directorate of Arts, in collaboration with the students of the Vila do Bispo School Group, and can be visited in the multipurpose room of the Fortaleza de Sagres during the opening hours of the monument.

About the name chosen for the exhibition, the author explains that, for a long time, he called the Vila do Bispo area the “Last Border Post”, due to “a unique climate and landscape, a different and dichotomous Algarve, a passing through, visiting, occasionally staying.”

In the synopsis of the exhibition, Jorge Marques says that “among those who stay here, we find a little bit of the whole world. This project is a portrait of that special world and about a unique period in our lives. About the peace that some kids I met when I was 11 years old helped me find at the last border post where I lived. With everything that matters to me, the family, and what we learned to call home, so central is space for our well-being”.

Jorge F. Marques was born in 1973, and although I didn't get to photography early, as he says in his biography, he already has an extensive curriculum, with emphasis on the work developed with Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Franco-Portugaise and Fidelidade France, in Paris, Toyota Salvador, in Porto, and also with the Centro de Ciência Viva de Lagos.

He photographed some important projects, such as the campaign Urban Art, which embodies a work by Joana Vasconcelos, the performance 'Mar Português', for the Harmattan Teather, in New York, or the “Guides to Geology and Urban Paleontology of Faro”, Tavira and Lagos.

He collaborates with Questão Repetida, having participated in multi-collaborative projects between different artistic disciplines, such as music, video, illustration and photography, which resulted in the shows “Elementos”, “Lugar”, and the exhibitions “Polaridade” and “Excerpts”, always with the Barlavento Algarvio as a backdrop and inspiration.
