VRSA executive attends the opening of the new school year

Executive was at the Agrupamento de Escolas D. José I

This Friday, September 16, the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António joined the opening of the school year at the Agrupamento de Escolas D. José I, through a visit to its main school.

The executive was represented by Ricardo Cipriano, vice president, who visited the requalification works at that school, accompanied by Eduardo Cunha, director of the group.

In a note, the municipality emphasizes that the contract to replace the cover of the EB 2,3 D. José I School has already been fully completed, an intervention that represented a municipal investment in the order of 116 thousand euros and aimed at the removal of all asbestos components present in the structure and the application of new materials.

«All the conditions are met to restore the normal functioning of that school, also putting an end to the constraints generated by the successive delays and non-compliances recorded in the work, a situation that led the municipality to terminate the contract with the initial contractor and make a new award» , adds the Municipality, noting that the damage caused by the contractor's failure to comply has already been repaired by the General Directorate of School Establishments (DGEstE), which carried out extensive works on the building, providing the school with excellent conditions for the start of the new school year and for the development of good teaching practices.
