During the reign of Isabel II, the «Algarve became one of the most popular holiday destinations in Portugal by many British citizens»

«Considering the importance of the historical ties of friendship with the British community in the region», the Committee for Coordination and Regional Development (CCDR) of the Algarve sent, and the Vice-Condul of the United Kingdom in the Algarve, a message of condolences for the death of Queen Isabel II.

«During his reign, the Algarve region became one of the most popular holiday destinations in Portugal for many British citizens», who «for decades have settled here and many have returned», adds the letter sent to Consul Clive Jewel, signed by José Apolinário, president of CCDR Algarve.
