In a note, José Carlos Rolo also underlines «the importance of Geotourism as one of the three pillars of action of UNESCO Geoparks» which, through the valorization of environmental and cultural aspects, and based on the principles of sustainable tourism, promotes geodiversity and heritage. geology in an integrated way, in this case through a visit to the territory.

The Geopark is a territory where geology and science provide us with information and knowledge about the history of the place. It is about geology, but the main objective is essentially related to cultural, social, demographic and economic aspects, areas with the potential to encourage a diversified set of actions, in an integrated strategy of sustainable development.

José Carlos Rolo corroborates the statement, explaining that «the aim is to give voice to an inland territory and show its appreciation, taking advantage of the diversification of Nature and Scientific Tourism, attracting economic activity and projection to an area, until now , little visited».
