ACTA takes “À Drift” to Portimão

Tickets cost 7 euros

The play “À Drift”, by ACTA – The Algarve Theater Company and the Braga Theater Company (CTB), is scheduled to be shown next Saturday, September 17, from 21:00 pm, at the Portimão Municipal Theater ( TIME).

Performed by Luís Vicente and Rogério Boane, the play revolves around a true case that occurred in 'apartheid', which marked South Africa for many decades until its official extinction, but which left marks of racial segregationism still quite visible in today's society. .

The plot, which results from the free version by Alexandre Honrado, from the original “The Island” written by Athol Fugard, John Kani and Winston Ntshona, develops around two companions in misfortune who share the same cell; during the day they perform forced labor and at night they rehearse the play “Antígona”, by Sophocles, to present it to the other prisoners, as they believe there are parallels between this classic of world dramaturgy and the situation lived on the prison island where they were thrown.

According to the producers of this theatrical work, the script has indicators of contemporaneity, namely with regard to cases of migrants who, fleeing poverty, do not manage to reach the hopeful western side of the Mediterranean and end up captured and exploited in conditions similar to those in the founding text. exposes.

Tickets cost 7 euros and can be purchased at the TEMPO box office, from Tuesday to Saturday between 13:00 pm and 18:00 pm, and on the night of the show, until it starts.
