Pediatric Emergency Department at Hospital de Faro closes three days

Regional assistance will be concentrated in Portimão

The Pediatric Emergency Department of Faro of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve will be closed between 7:00 am on the 14th and 9:00 am on the 17th of August, during which the regional response, in this specialty, will be ensured by the Hospital de Portimão, informed the CHUA Board of Directors.

Those responsible for public hospitals in the Algarve assure that, even so, «in this period, both maternity hospitals, both in Faro and in Portimão, they will be open and operating normally».

Meanwhile, “a coordinated and articulated assistance response was organized with the Portimão Hospital Unit, guaranteeing the quality and safety of the services provided at a regional level”, says the CHUA administration.

Since the end of June, there have been situations of closure of either the Pediatric Emergency Department or the Delivery Block of the Faro and Portimão. The justification given by the CHUA administration for this situation is the lack of professionals to ensure the scales in the services of both hospitals.
