Workers at the Hotel Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa, in Albufeira, gathered outside the hotel this Saturday, August 27th to ask for a salary increase.
The professionals showed their dissatisfaction with the base salary of 770 euros they are receiving and the fact that the administration has so far refused any negotiation with a view to improving the purchasing power of these workers.
«The decision came out of the meeting to request a new meeting for the parties to dialogue, with the aim of reaching an understanding that satisfies the needs of the workers and that guarantees social peace in the hotel. At stake is a proposal for a salary increase of 100 euros, with effect from 1 January, guaranteeing the minimum base salary of 850 euros», says the Algarve Hospitality Union in a note, adding that it has already sent the request for a meeting and is wait for an answer.
