Amendoeira Golf Resort workers go on three-day strike

Workers want to see better pay

Workers at the Amendoeira Golf Resort, in Alcantarilha, Silves, will go on strike on the 9th, 10th and 11th of September.

According to the Sindicato da Hotelaria do Algarve, this stoppage appears as a way of demanding "from the administration the opening to negotiate the demands presented by the union, such as the minimum salary increase of 90 euros, with effect from 1 January, setting the minimum base salary of entry of 850 euros, the hiring of workers to replace the staff in the sections and departments where they were reduced and the integration into the workforce of all workers with precarious ties that respond to permanent needs».

Other claims include «the reduction of the normal working period to 35 hours per week, without reduction of remuneration, the allocation of 25 working days of vacation, without constraints, the guarantee of the quality and quantity of food, the payment of the expenses of travel, the enhancement of work performed on weekends, through the payment of an increase of 25% on the normal remuneration and the allocation of 25% of additional rest for work performed on weekly rest days and public holidays».

Workers consider this management position "unacceptable".
