Secretary of State for Youth and Sports makes two-day itinerary through the Algarve

This Tuesday and Wednesday

João Paulo Correia, Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, will tour the Algarve on the 9th and 10th of August.

The government member will be accompanied by Selene Martinho, vice-president of the Portuguese Institute for Sports and Youth (IPDJ), on a visit to the institute's facilities in Faro, and several associations and clubs that benefit from its support. The initiative aims to provide «close knowledge of the reality of services, workers and entities supported by the IPDJ».

On the 9th of August, Tuesday, at 15:30, the government official and the delegation are received at the IPDJ of Faro, by Custódio Moreno, regional director for the Algarve of this association.

Given that «the first line of response to the needs of citizens is precisely in the regional services». one of the highlights of the visit is the contact with the technicians, as well as the visit to the Casa de Associações, where six associations linked to Sports and Associations are housed. There will also be time for a conversation as part of the «Youth Talks» project.

Also on the 9th, a visit to the Youth Hostel of Faro, where the reception is carried out by Miguel Perestrelo, president of Movijovem,

At 18:15, the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, visits the facilities of the Clube Desportivo Geração de Génios, located at Escola Secundaria João de Deus.

In Tavira, at 19:30 pm, João Paulo Correia is received at the Tavira City Council and, in this city, he visits the Youth Hostel of Tavira.

On Wednesday, the 10th, at 10:00 am, the Secretary of State, accompanied by the Mayor of Silves, Rosa Palma, visit the Casa do Povo de S. Bartolomeu de Messines, a Youth Association, with a relevant work carried out in inclusive projects.

At 12:00, it is the turn of Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, to receive the delegation. The area of ​​entrepreneurship was chosen, and StartUp Portimão will host the closing session of the celebration of its five years of activity.

At 15:00 pm, in Vilamoura, a visit will be made to the facilities of the Vilamoura Marina, guided by the directors of Vilamoura Sailing, with the presence of Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, José Apolinário, president of CCDR Algarve, and João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region. Accompanying the visit will be Isolete Correia, director of the Vilamoura Marina.

Later, the Secretary of State will meet with Vítor Guerreiro, mayor of S. Brás de Alportel, on a visit to the municipality where he will talk to young people participating in the project «Florestas Nossas 3», an initiative within the scope of the IPDJ Volunteer Youth Program for Nature and Forests.

Finally, it is in Olhão, more precisely in the parish of Moncarapacho, that the two-day itinerary ends. At 18:30, and in the presence of António Miguel Pina, mayor, the delegation pays a visit to the Lusitano Ginásio Clube Moncarapachense and participates in the inauguration of the requalification work of the Dr.António João Eusébio Stadium.
