The Portimão Summer Holidays ended last Friday, 12 August, with a party that brought together more than two thousand people at the Portimão Arena, including children and young participants, their parents, family and friends.
The party was the culmination of a six-week vacation for close to 2300 children and young people between the ages of 6 and 16 who, from the 4th of July to the 12th of August, had the opportunity to experience various sporting, recreational, cultural and educational activities. civic and environmental.
The closing program included performances by various groups from the Summer Holidays representing the centers that worked at the Municipal Theater of Portimão, in the Praia da Rocha Sports Area, at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, at the Pedagogical Farm of Portimão, at the Museum of Portimão, in the Sports Pavilion of Portimão, in the Sports Pavilion of Boavista, and in the Sports Complexes of Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande.
During the ceremony, Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, emphasized the fact that this is the European Year of Youth, highlighting the 11 goals defined for the event, which include connecting the European Union with youth, for gender equality. , for inclusive societies and for information and constructive dialogue.
«The goals of this European Year of Youth are also to fight for mental health and well-being, boost rural youth, promote quality work for all, as well as quality education, not forgetting space and participation for all, Europe sustainable green and youth organizations and European programs», emphasizes the Portimão Chamber in a note.
