New sports season starts in September in Portimão

There is a lot to choose from

Tennis, swimming, ballet, contemporary dance or gymnastics. The new sports season starts on the 1st of September, in Portimão.

In addition to these modalities, there are also water aerobics, hydrotherapy, ballet and novelties such as the introduction of senior karate and cardio jump, operating at the Sports Pavilion in Portimão, as well as cross training, which will operate at the Boavista Sports Pavilion.

With all this sports offer, the Municipality of Portimão says that “it intends to promote health through the practice of regular physical activity, by encouraging citizens to integrate the various programs aimed at different age groups, which will allow them to acquire healthier lifestyles”. ».

The activities will take place from the 15th of September at the Sports Pavilion of Portimão, the Sports Pavilion of Boavista and in the Sports Complexes of Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande, opening registration from the 1st of September, with the possibility of a discount of 50% of the registration fee for those who sign up during that month.

Interested parties must register at the sports equipment secretariat that makes available the sport that best fits their personal goals, being necessary to present the Citizen Card or identity card, as well as the taxpayer number, at the time of registration.

Developed for the resident population over 45 years old, in collaboration with some institutions in the municipality, the Exercise and Health Project takes place in the Gimnodesportivo de Portimão and Desportivo da Boavista pavilions, and this year there will also be space for exercise and health classes in the Complex Mexilhoeira Grande Sports.

This municipal sports program covers gymnastics and adapted fitness activities, walking and running, as well as the traditional Senior Olympics, among other events.

Senior karate is one of the new modalities to be included in this municipal program in the next sporting season, and will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9:10 am, at the Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo in Portimão.

Portimão Gym is a program that covers some modalities usually practiced in gyms, with different levels, and is intended for people over 16 years old.

It offers yoga classes, pilates, fitpower, zumba, localized, jazz dance and mind&body, with the particularity of providing children from 4 to 12 years old with pop dance classes and dance kids.

For this sporting season, two new modalities were contemplated: cardio jump, operating at the Portimão Sports Pavilion and cross training at the Boavista Sports Pavilion.

As for the Municipal School of Dance, it will work in the Sports Pavilion of Portimão, with the municipal classes of Ballet, contemporary dance and pop dance.

the municipal class of Ballet It is divided into beginner ballet, from 3 years old, and children's ballet, for over 6 years old, with classes operating at different times, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Already pop dance Open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 17:30 pm is reserved for children between 4 and 7 years old and 18:20 pm for children between 8 and 12 years old. Even on these days, children over 10 years old will be able to practice contemporary dance.

At the Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex, it will be possible for participants to benefit from swimming lessons, water aerobics, body & mind ou fitpower, and the practice of hydrotherapy is a therapeutic option.

This year the swimming school has a swimming class for parents and children, on Saturday mornings and aimed at children from 3 years of age.

As for the Alvor Sports Complex, those registered can enjoy an indoor swimming pool with six lanes, two tennis courts with synthetic flooring, a multi-purpose sports area and a fitness workout for free practice.

It will also be possible to reserve the tennis courts to practice the sport with friends or family.

As for the swimming pool, which allows free use, it also provides integration in learning or development classes in swimming and water aerobics.
