Contacted by Sul Informação, António Pina, mayor of Olhão, explained that in 2022, because of the pandemic, the municipality chose to apply “a hybrid model”, as an alternative to what the Seafood Festival has accustomed the public for decades.
The event, in its original format, should return «next year».
«We started preparing the Seafood Festival the year before and, at the end of 2021, there was still some uncertainty about the evolution of the pandemic. In this way, we opted for a hybrid model, so that families could feel more comfortable», explained the mayor of Olhão.
On the other hand, the Chamber wanted to «take advantage of some contracts that were already signed with artists, relating to 2020, and that had to be carried out this year», thus ensuring a component that attracts many people to the Seafood Festival: music .
Tonight, at 22:30 pm, Tony Carreira takes the stage, who will present his new album “Recomeçar”, but also «revisit his greatest hits», according to the Câmara de Olhão.
Over the next three nights, in the same place and at the same time, there will be as many concerts, which, like today, have free admission.
On the 11th, a Thursday, will be Jorge Guerreiro, singer and former contestant of the program Big Brother Famosos, to take the stage.
Next, on Friday, the 12th, Dillaz, «one of the most renowned artists in the context of Portuguese hip-hop, with a very well defined identity, in a concert dedicated especially to the younger audience».
On the 13th of August, the British Abba Gold, «the best known and one of the best tribute bands to Abba», perform.
Although there is no venue itself, anyone who wants to associate seafood tasting with the concerts can do so in the restaurants, which, on these days, "will present adapted menus", or "buy directly at the seafood stores in the area ».
The delicacies purchased in these establishments, which sell cooked but also fresh seafood, can be consumed at tables set up in Jardim Pescador Olhanense, revealed António Pina.
