Mauricio Moreira wins Vuelta a Portugal. “Algarvio” Alejandro Marque takes 5th

Mauricio Moreira (Glassdrive) is the big winner of the 83rd Volta a Portugal and Alejandro Marque was the best “Algarvian” in competition. 

The cyclist from Atum General/Tavira/AP Maria Nova Hotel finished the Tour in 5th position overall and managed to be third in the last stage, which took place this Monday, August 15, between Porto and Vila Nova from Gaia.

The best of the 18,6 kilometer time trial was also the Uruguayan Mauricio Moreira (25m07,87s), followed by António Carvalho, from the same team. In 3rd came Alejandro Marque.

As for the general classification, the podium is still composed of Frederico Figueiredo (Glassdrive), in second place, and António Carvalho, from the same team, in third.

Alejandro Marque said goodbye to cycling in fifth place overall, but the top 10 also featured two more “Algarvian” cyclists. Delio Fernandez, also from Atum General/Tavira/AP, was in 6th place overall and Jesus del Pino, from Aviludo/Louletano/Loulé Concelho, in 8th.
