Masks are no longer mandatory in public transport, planes, taxis and pharmacies

Measure approved by the Council of Ministers today

The use of masks or visors is no longer mandatory in collective passenger transport, including air transport, as well as in the transport of passengers by taxi or TVDE, and also in pharmacies sold to the public.

The elimination of the obligation was approved this Thursday, August 25th, in the Council of Ministers.

The mask will also no longer be required, according to the statement from the Council of Ministers, “in “places where this is determined in the rules of the Directorate-General for Health”.

However, in order to “protect those who are in a more vulnerable situation, the use of masks or visors remains mandatory in health establishments and services, and in residential or reception structures or home support services for vulnerable populations, the elderly or people with disabilities, as well as integrated continuing care units of the National Network for Integrated Continuing Care».

At the press conference after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Marta Temido, Minister of Health, indicated that the end of the mandatory mask will come into force as soon as the President of the Republic enacts the decree-law approved by the Government today.
