Loulé marks Youth Day with awareness and animation actions

Healthy eating and the impact of social networks on the socialization of young people will be topics addressed

International Youth Day will be celebrated in Loulé this Friday, August 12, with awareness-raising actions on topics such as healthy eating and the impact of social networks on young people's socialization – and there will be plenty of entertainment.

On that day, between 10:00 am and 00:00 am, Loulé Municipal Park will host a set of cultural, recreational and sporting initiatives.

The event will take place in two moments. The first will be aimed at participants of the municipal program “Férias para Todos”, aged between 6 and 12, from 10:00 am to 16:00 pm. The second, open to all young people aged between 15 and 29, runs from 21 pm to midnight.

In addition to the various activities, there will be inflatables in the park and musical entertainment and street arts with the Satori Artistic Association,

The group Contemporâneo Fusion, the Clarinet Quartet of the Sociedade Filarmónica Artistas de Minerva, the “Seiktokas” (percussion dynamics with the public by Sérgio Almeida), a hip-hop moment and the performance of the DJ “Worrior” are also part of the program.

On that day, citizenship actions aimed at the youth community will also be promoted.

In a press release, the Municipality emphasizes that it will take advantage of this event to present some of its projects directly linked to young people, «raising awareness of matters that are of special importance to younger generations, such as climate change and environmental sustainability, civil protection or food liability'.

With regard to the promotion of healthy eating habits, young people will be able to learn more about the “Marmitando” and “Prato Certo” projects, through developed workshops that will allow them to know which are the best foods and their benefits, how they should be prepared, how to read food labels to interpret the percentage of sugars and saturated fats present in food or even the importance of food and hand hygiene.

Firefighters, Civil Protection and GNR will take some messages about safety and help within the community.

Issues related to climate emergency and environmental protection will also be in focus with the participants, through initiatives aimed at defending biodiversity and habitats, promoted by the Environmental Center.
