Young people cleaning “Our Forests”, sports activities, a talent show and inclusion marked the celebrations of International Youth Day in São Brás de Alportel, where not even a member of the Government was absent.

In this municipality, the program of commemorations of this ephemeris, celebrated on August 12, started a few days before.

João Paulo Correia, Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, visited this municipality on the 10th, to meet on the spot the work carried out by young people from São Paulo participating in the Volunteer Program “Florestas Nossas 3”, promoted by the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, which is promoted by the Espaço Jovem do Município.

Daniel Cunha, Hélio Justino, Mariana Carvalho, João Viegas and Jorge Diogo are five young people from São Paulo who volunteer their time to this project in July and August.

«Surveillance in the forest, cleaning beaches, promoting recycling games, raising awareness in the Municipal Swimming Pools Discoveries in the area of ​​recycling and reuse and water saving are some of the activities that these young people have carried out», according to the São Brás de Alportel City Council. .

In the 2022 edition, young volunteers are also participating in the creative workshops of the Inclusive Vacation Program, «where recyclable materials collected in cleaning actions have been transformed into musical instruments and art «is placed at the service of inclusion and awareness », according to Marlene Guerreiro, vice president of the Chamber.

According to Hélio Justino, who is already in his third year of volunteering at “Florestas Nossas”, in this project “we play, but we also work hard to help others”.

 

 

João Paulo Correia, for his part, pointed to the “Florestas Nossas” Project “as one of the most important projects of the IPDJ at a national level” and said that the work carried out by these young people in collaboration with various entities “is very valuable, both for its value social as well as the community value it involves and represents'.

In this edition of the Florestas Nossas project, the Municipality has a partnership with the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel and the Center for Culture and Sports Workers of the City Council and the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel (CCD).

The celebrations of the International Youth Day continued on August 12, with an afternoon of activities at the Discovery Swimming Pool Complex, «followed by a Young Talent Show, with the participation of the Hip Hop Groups “Urban Xpression”, São Brás de Alportel Martial Arts Club and “Young Melody”, which integrates the Philharmonic Band and a group of young people: EJ, Hélio Justino and Daniel Cunha».

The young people who are part of the Inclusive Holiday Program, which is being developed by the City Council, in partnership with Santa Casa da Misericórdia de São Brás de Alportel, had the opportunity to spend a different morning at the Equestrian Center Baixa Lusitana, and have your horse riding baptism.

«This day intends to be just the first of many in a partnership that the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel wants to establish with this equestrian center and which already has the support of the owner and mentor of this project, Daniel Pires, who made a point of being present» , concluded the municipality.
