A 17-year-old, suspected of being the author of a crime of qualified murder, in the attempted form, which took place in June in Almada, was arrested in the Algarve, the Judiciary Police announced today.
The arrest of the suspect was coordinated by the Criminal Investigation Department of Setúbal of the PJ, with the collaboration of the Criminal Investigation Department of Portimão.
According to the PJ, the man now detained “out of flagrante delicto” bears “strong indications of the practice of a crime of qualified murder, in the attempted form, in the person of a 20-year-old man”.
The case took place in the early evening of the 2nd of June, «in an artery in the city of Almada, when the alleged perpetrator, following previous disagreements on social media between the two, approached the victim and stabbed him twice in the back which reached her lungs and, necessarily, put her life in danger».
The Judiciary adds that “the suspect is a socially disenfranchised individual, with a long history of delinquency”, who, at the time of the crime, had fled the institution where he was sheltered.
After the crime, the suspect fled to «the Algarve region, where he was eventually located and detained»
Present at the first judicial interrogation, the coercive measure of preventive detention was applied to him.
