Portugal is preparing worker mobility agreements «with Morocco, India, Indonesia and other countries that have excess labor», in order to solve the problem of lack of workers in some sectors of activity, among which tourism, revealed yesterday, the 19th, António Costa Silva, Minister of Economy, on the sidelines of the opening of FATACIL, in Lagoa.

The member of the Government assured that the issue of labor is at the "center of concerns" of the Government and that is why, in addition to strengthening the agreements that already exist, at this level, with the countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), «there are other agreements that are being drafted».

«We can capture these resources and it is extremely important to do so, because we will not be able to develop our country with Portugal in demographic retraction. We need to significantly increase the active population. This is an extremely important asset for the country's development”, said the minister.

In addition to «attracting talents», the great challenge that Portugal has in this field «is to retain these talents», so «it is necessary to give them conditions to establish themselves».

«It is very important that the people we are going to attract are also given the conditions to develop their activities, to invest in training, the issue of careers, because, if not, we will have a cyclical problem», he believes.
