Air Force acquires six new means to fight rural fires

The first two helicopters are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2023

The Air Force acquired six medium bomber helicopters, Sikorski UH-60 Black Hawk, for fighting rural fires.

The means were acquired through a public tender authorized by Council of Ministers Resolution no.

The contract for the acquisition of the new means was signed on August 12 with the awarding company Arista Aviation Services, LLC, and includes the supply of material and tools, technical maintenance support until 2026 and training for six pilots and 21 mechanics.

Delivery of the first two helicopters is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.

Approximately 81% of this acquisition is financed by community funds, through the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter allows the transport of a team of 12 firefighters and their equipment, with an autonomy, with water release, of about 150 minutes. It has the capacity to carry up to 2950 liters of water per drop.
