Feira da Serra had almost 39 thousand visitors and surpassed «2019 numbers»

Crafts, music, gastronomy and entertainment were the common denominator of the event

The Fair of the Mountain, which ended last Sunday, July 31, had 38.600 visitors, in an edition that «surpassed the expectations and numbers of 2019». 

For four days, handicrafts, music, gastronomy and entertainment were the common denominator of the event. The medronho was the special guest of this edition.

The opening ceremony was attended by Duarte Cordeiro, Minister of the Environment and Climate Action, who said that the future of the mountain passes «through prevention, awareness and appreciation of endogenous products as a way of retaining people and strengthening economic dynamics. of the territories'.

Vitor Guerreiro, mayor of São Brás de Alportel, underlined the “investment of the municipality in what is the biggest event in the county”.

«The municipality has taken seriously the commitment to adapting and mitigating climate change and in particular to water efficiency, and a set of actions and measures are in progress that aim to contribute in a solid way to the reduction of the ecological footprint and consequent minimization of environmental impacts. environmental impacts," he said.

The inaugural ceremony also included the interventions of the president of the Organizing Committee of Feira da Serra and vice-president of the Municipality Marlene Guerreiro, the president of the CCDR Algarve José Apolinário and the president of the Algarve Tourism Region João Fernandes, among other mayors. and regional and local representatives of different entities.

In what is the European Year of Youth, Feira da Serra achieved a record number of young volunteers and inaugurated the new Youth Stage, where around 70 young people passed.

This stage also witnessed the signing of the Protocol between the Municipality and the National Federation of Youth Associations to consolidate the municipality's adhesion to the National Network of Youth-Friendly Municipalities.

This ceremony was attended by the mayor of São Paulo Vitor Guerreiro, the councilor for Youth Marlene Guerreiro, the Regional delegate of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth Custódio Moreno and the president of the National Federation of Youth Associations Marco Santos.

The main stage of the Fair featured concerts by DAMA, a tribute to Queen, Carlão, Bonga. There was also the traditional “São Brás Fashion” fashion show.

In this edition, Palco Sonoridades hosted for the first time a family theater play, among many other musical and dance performances, with emphasis on the participation of the Alma Algarvia Group, from Argentina with São-Brasense roots in their ancestors.

On Palco Sabores, there were daily demonstrations by chefs with suggestions for the application and use of arbutus, brandy and other derivatives.

«Innovation also took the stage to introduce differentiated products that add value to the region, including “Medronho Bottle”, an innovative drink developed from arbutus, an edible biscuit for animals and humans, “Bake My Dog”, the nutritional value of “Microvegetais” and also the creative almond-based suggestions of “BudaBites”», says the São Brás de Alportel Chamber.

Equestrian art met with visitors at the Picadeiro and there was even… a beach bar, with the “Ferox” surfboards from São Paulo.

For the younger ones, there was the traditional Sítio dos Curiosos.
