18 projects, as many associations and four months to fill the Roman Ruins of Milreu, in Faro, and the Fortress of Sagres and the Ermida de Guadalupe, in Vila do Bispo. This is how the 2022 edition of DiVaM – Dynamization and Valorisation of the Monuments, by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (DRCAlg), whose program was presented on Sunday in Sagres.

The presentation moment was also the launch of the event. The first show, organized by the Algarve Accordion Association, brought together in the auditorium of the Promontório de Sagres Gonçalo Pescada and the Quinteto Sull'a Corda”, which is, as it were, the accordion and some of its “cousins” to two violins, a viola, a cello and a double bass.

The composer chosen was Johann Sebastian Bach.

Gonçalo Pescada and the Algarve Accordion Association are “repeated” in DiVaM, but this year's edition of the DRCAlg program has several “new faces”.

"There are new associations and others that are not new, but that competed for the program for the first time", he revealed to the Sul Informação Adriana Nogueira, Regional Director of Culture in the Algarve, on the sidelines of the DiVaM 2022 presentation.

Artificial – Associação Artística e Cultural do Algarve, Avonde – Associação Cultural and Ria Inquieta are the new structures that saw applications accepted this year. Cinemalua, Gaveta – Associação Cultural e Pesquisa Teatral, Grupo Coral Ossonoba and Sociedade Recreativa Artística Farense participate for the first time.

«The associations that participate for the first time will bring news, because they will bring a different look», he illustrated.

These structures are added to those that have already seen applications accepted: Ao Luar Teatro – Ideias Culturais; ARCA – Recreational and Cultural Association of the Algarve; Artist XXI; Algarve Accordion Association; Film Club of Faro; JAT Collective – Janela Aberta Teatro; Today's Body; Flautistics – Algarve Bevel Flute Association; Music XXI; The Raven and the Fox; and Tertúlia- Associação Sócio-Cultural de Aljezur.

«DiVaM has been very important for its role in promoting monuments. Also very important is the action of the associations, which have not only worked with the monuments, but also with the local communities”, said Luciano Rafael, the director of the Fortaleza de Sagres.

«This year we have fewer activities, but also because there were fewer people and associations to compete. This happened, perhaps, because we announced later than usual, because we could not do it before the State Budget. In other words, it delayed everything a little bit», revealed Adriana Nogueira.

In all, “eight activities are planned in Milreu and ten here in Vila do Bispo, five in the Fortress of Sagres and as many in the Ermida de N. Sra. of Guadeloupe".

“The initiatives are very varied. For example, I found many jokes at the balls, which are initiatives that will involve the community, both here [in Vila do Bispo] and in Milreu”, he added.

There will also be “multidisciplinary activities. I find this intersection between music, dance and theater very interesting».

Another aspect of DiVaM that is «very important» for DRCAlg is that «associations get out of their seats. It is important that those of Faro come here to Vila do Bispo and let those from here go to Milreu. We were all enriched by it.”
