Man arrested in Algarve who stabbed “ex” boyfriend in Caldas da Rainha

Crime was committed in June

A 55-year-old man who stabbed his ex-partner's boyfriend several times in early June in Caldas da Rainha was arrested by the Judiciary Police in the Algarve.

The man is suspected of the crimes of attempted murder and domestic violence and was detained in an operation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of Leiria, in collaboration with the PJ's Southern Directorate, which complied with an arrest warrant.

According to the PJ, in early June, "in a context of conflicts", the man "stabbed several times that endangered the life of the victim, the current partner of his ex-partner".

Soon after, the aggressor fled «to an uncertain part, and is now found and detained in a locality located in the Algarve».

The detainee is 55 years old, “is a national citizen, has no known occupation and has a police/criminal record, namely for domestic violence”.

The Judiciary Authority will now be present for the possible application of coercive measures.
