Commitments made by Club Med da Balaia leads workers to suspend strike

Strike was scheduled for the 10th and 15th of August

The workers of Club Med da Balaia decided to suspend the strike scheduled for the 10th and 15th of August after the management made some commitments.

The workers' decision was announced this Friday, after a meeting was held on August 2nd with the management "which had been refused since June and which was accepted after the strike notice was issued", reads up on the note.

What led the workers to take the decision to suspend the strike were the commitments made by Club Med to pay «an annual premium of 100 euros at the end of each year, the availability for, in the next negotiations for 2023, which will start next
September, to take into account some of the demands now presented, namely, a salary increase that absorbs this year's inflation, that no worker will earn a base salary of less than 850 euros and that working conditions will be improved, namely, in the laundry», explains the Sindicato da Hotelaria do Algarve in the note sent to the newsroom.

In the same document, the Union states that it will continue to monitor the situation and appeals to workers to maintain their “unity and availability for the struggle”.
