Initiative is back

The Summer Festival in the village of Cabeça do Velho takes place this weekend, the 6th and 7th of August, in this town in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel.

This initiative aims to enhance and preserve mountain traditions, knowledge and flavors, as well as the promotion of endogenous products.

In this context, the Festival starts at 19 pm on Saturday, the 00th, with the Mercadinho na Aldeia and mountain snacks for tasting. The night will invite you to dance with the group “Improviso” and the performance of Andreia Viegas and João Martins.

There will also be an auction of trays filled with typical products.

The Mercadinho na Aldeia reopens on Sunday at 19 pm, to kick off the party that continues with mountain snacks and lots of entertainment, to the sound of the Duo Reflection followed by the traditional tray auction.

The program of activities includes a special moment dedicated to “Netos da Serra – os amigos da Lara”, an initiative to value the family roots of the Serra, marked by grandparents and grandchildren, descendants of the mountains who were born after the 2012 fire.

The Summer Party ends to the sound of Grupo Jasmim, of traditional Ukrainian music.

In this year's edition, the traditional Summer Party will have a differentiated family component, integrated in the Holidays in the Village initiative, of the tourist route to enhance rural territories “Aldeias de Portugal”.

This is a new dynamic of territorial valorization and promotion co-organized by the City Council, Associação In Loco, Futebol Clube Cabeça do Velho, Associação Turismo de Aldeia and Serra de São Brás Working Group, which challenges families to experience a different weekend in contact with nature and local identity.

In this context, the program of activities includes for Saturday, from 16:30 pm, a picnic in the shade, with mountain delicacies, followed by a walking route through “Entre Vales, Fontes e Memórias da Serra do Caldeirão”.

At the end of the daytime activities, participants will have the opportunity to taste the traditional grain dinner.

For the end, the Head of the Old Man's Summer Ball is reserved.

On Sunday, a tour of the cork oak is planned for observation and contact with the local biodiversity, followed by a cork workshop, dedicated to the reuse of this noble and ecological raw material in the creation of new utilitarian and decorative pieces.
