Lagoa Municipal Archive launches first edition of its magazine «Arade»

The magazine is launched in the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the inauguration of the Municipal Archive of Lagoa

The first issue of «Arade. Revista do Arquivo Municipal de Lagoa» will be presented on the 6th of September, at 18:30, on the terrace of that Archive, located next to the main church.

The magazine is launched in the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Municipal Archive of Lagoa.

The publication «comes to fill a lack that has long been felt by researchers who, when working on the history of Lagoa and its county, did not have a magazine in which to publish their studies», explains the Câmara de Lagoa.

«“Arade”, whose name comes from the river that constitutes one of the natural borders of the municipality and has always been affirmed as one of its development engines, intends to go beyond its geographical limits and assume, from now, a regional scope , opening the field of investigation to works from other realities and areas of interest, seeking to produce more and better knowledge about our county and the region where it is located, the Algarve», he adds.

On the other hand, the publication will be «an instrument that, being a journal intended for the publication of historical research works, can also host studies in the field of Information Science, in a horizon capable of covering the essential of the themes concerning this scientific field and to the municipal archives".

The presentation will be in charge of António Maranhão Peixoto, graduated in History, Archivist and former director of the Municipal Archive of Viana do Castelo. Entry is free.
