The Union of Parishes of Faro has just launched the 4th edition of the “Historic Essay” award, intended to reward the best work dedicated to any period in the history of the city of Faro and its cultural heritage.
The objective of the municipality is "take an active role in the defense and enhancement of Farense History, Identity and Cultural Heritage»,
Works can be submitted by nationals or foreigners, as long as they present their work in Portuguese, not exceeding 150 pages.
The structure of the work is free. However, the authors of the works must agree with the stipulations of this regulation and comply with the formatting rules of the works.
In addition to the originality and scientific rigor of the works in the competition, the Jury will have as a criterion the clarity of the text and its communicational merit, given that the primary objective of this award is to disseminate the history and cultural heritage of the city.
The Union of Parishes of Faro may, if it so chooses, publish the winning work in its own edition and the works must be delivered by November 30th.

Bruno Lage, president of the União das Freguesias de Faro, underlines that «this award is a strong contribution to the enhancement and increase of historical knowledge about the city of Faro, being at the same time a stimulus to carry out more research work in Faro allowing a more robust and comprehensive knowledge of the history and identity of this important millenary city».
