UAlg is part of the European University of the Seas

Paulo Águas, rector of UAlg, considers that «the project to create the Alliances of European Universities will mark the future of higher education in the European space»

The University of Algarve is already part of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU), coordinated by the academy of Cádiz.

The proposal from the European University of the Seas was evaluated positively, obtaining the support and funding of around 14 thousand euros from the European Commission (ERASMUS+) for another four years.

The proposal now approved, SEA-EU 2.0, managed to renew the alliance, which is a success for the entire consortium, now officially formed by nine universities: the University of Cádiz, which continues as coordinator, the University of West Brittany (France ), the University of Kiel (Germany), University of Gdansk (Poland), University of Algarve (Portugal), University of Naples Parthenope (Italy) and University of Nord (Norway).

«The European University of the Seas managed to renew this seal and the funding through a proposal entitled “SEA-EU FOR ALL”, an evolution of what the Alliance has been developing in its first three years of life, since 2019, when it embarked on the way for the transformation of Higher Education, through a “Super Campus” formed so far by six universities», says the UAlg.

«This transnational campus, now with nine universities and more than 20 cities involved, welcomes more than 150 thousand students and 18 thousand employees who will benefit from the objectives that are at the heart of this proposal. More mobility for all, inclusion, multilingualism and personal and professional development, available through a wide network of shared resources», he adds.

Paulo Águas, rector of UAlg, considers that «the project to create the Alliances of European Universities will mark the future of higher education in Europe, as well as in UAlg».

At regional level, SEA-EU also has the following effective partners: Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve); Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL); Docapesca – Ports and Fish Markets; Center for Marine Sciences (CCMAR), Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) Association for a Sustainable and Intelligent Aquaculture (S2AQUA )- Collaborative Laboratory; Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve (CCV Algarve), Association of Marine Sciences and Cooperation (SCIAENA), Águas do Algarve; and Algarve Tourism Region (RTA).
