The 29th edition of the Volta ao Algarve à Vela is over – and the 30th is already being considered

Luis Veríssimo and Pedro Pontes were the winners in different categories

The 29th edition of Volta ao Algarve à Vela, organized by the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro in partnership with AOC – Abel Oliveira Carrasquinho SA – Construction Materials, has already ended.

Once again, the club's objective in holding the event was «to promote and honor among the population and at a national level the importance that the practice of Vela Cruzeiro represents for the region».

João Marques, president of the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, emphasizes that «this was, without a doubt, another successful year for the Volta ao Algarve, where we were able to count on the support of several entities that made these days of regattas possible, and on the determination of the sailors in competition, who surprised us race after race".

The three days of competition ended with Luis Veríssimo winning the 29th Volta ao Algarve in the ORC Class – ELIXIR D-LOFT and Pedro Pontes winning the 29th Volta ao Algarve in the NHC Class – PASSION III.

After this edition, the President of the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro says: «soon, we will start working on the 30th edition of the Volta ao Algarve à Vela, so that these 30 years of the event are marked and celebrated in the best way, with the right partners, because we walk the path together».

The 29th Volta ao Algarve à Vela co-organization included the Clube de Vela de Lagos, Marina de Lagos, Marina de Albufeira, Associação Naval do Guadiana and various institutional support, in which we highlight the Municipalities of Faro, Albufeira, Vila Real de Santo António, Lagos and the Parish Union of Faro.
