Drought: Ferragudo Parish Council closes Praia Grande showers and foot wash

Ferraguense mayor calls for bathers to understand

The Parish Council of Ferragudo announced today that it will close the showers and foot washes in Praia Grande, with the aim of promoting water savings. This is the only bathing area in the parish where these infrastructures exist.

Luís Alberto, president of this municipality, told the Sul Informação that «given the long period of drought that the region and a large part of the country are going through, the Parish Council of Ferragudo takes a big step forward in this mission, which is the preservation of water and greater rigor in consumption».

The mayor added that the foot wash and shower use about 30 cubic meters of water per month.

The president of the Ferragudo Parish Council appeals to the understanding of bathers and to “responsible consumption and use of this precious asset”.
