Civil Protection attentive to mass events wants to contribute to a «safe summer» in the Algarve

The Algarve Civil Protection Operational Coordination Center (OCC) met this Wednesday, July 6, to prepare the “mass events” that, in the coming months, will take place in the region. 

These initiatives are “deserving of close monitoring by the civil protection structures of the region, in particular the Municipal Civil Protection Services, which have ensured with the promoters the installation of prevention devices appropriate to the risk, in full articulation with the security forces territorially. authorities and the other Civil Protection Agents», reads a note released to the company.

Institutional coordination «is ensured, in the Algarve region, by this multi-agency team, which includes representatives of the entities whose intervention is justified according to each specific occurrence, and they are responsible for managing the operational participation of each force or service in the rescue operations. to unleash", he adds.

 

 

Under the coordination of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, the liaison officers of the National Maritime Authority, Federation of Firefighters, Armed Forces, Republican National Guard, Institute for Nature Conservation met at the premises of the Algarve Regional Command, in CCO format. and Forests, National Institute of Medical Emergency, Public Security Police, Judiciary Police, as well as other cooperating entities such as AFOCELCA, E-REDES and the Algarve Intermunicipal Community – AMAL.

Together, these entities “analyzed the activity of the previous week and, based on the risk assessment, planned, in an integrated way, the following week and the measures to be taken preventively”.

All agents «are committed to contributing to a safe summer in the Algarve region, maintaining an effective coordination of resources in the response to emergencies, so the collection and dissemination of strategic information, relevant to protection and relief missions is essential for the implementation of the single command principle, in an effective monitoring of all occurrences, ensuring an adequate response, at all times».

Furthermore, due to the danger of fire, the coordination and intervention mechanisms inherent to the Special Device for Fighting Rural Fires will be reinforced.
