Professor from Olhão participates in a course on arts for the inclusion of migrants and refugees

The course ran from the 27th of June to the 2nd of July

Professor Pedro Ramalhete, from the Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes (Olhão), went to Florence to carry out, within the scope of the Erasmus+ program, a course on “Arts for the Inclusion of Migrants, Refugees, and Disadvantaged Populations”.

In the course, teachers from Ireland, Germany, Spain, Holland, Greece and Portugal learned to use art as a tool to integrate migrant, refugee and disadvantaged students into classes, and to promote dialogue and cross-cultural understanding. .

The course ran from June 27th to July 2nd, and the effects and traumas of resettlement were analyzed, and the benefits of creating art for the integration of minorities and the rebuilding of healthy communities in times of crisis were discussed.

Paintings, sculptures, collages, other collaborative art forms, art installations, performances (eg using found objects to tell a story and create non-verbal forms of communication) were also performed.
