“Blue Flag”, “Accessible Beach – Beach for All” and “Portugal Guia-Te 2022” were some of the distinctions awarded to the beaches of Portimão in this bathing season.
The “Blue Flag” was flown at Praia da Rocha, Marina de Portimão, Três Castelos, Vau, Três Irmãos, Torralta and Alvor, «proving compliance with criteria such as environmental information and education, water quality, environmental management and equipment, as well as security and services'.
In addition to this, the "Accessible Beach - Beach for All" flag is returning to the beaches of Rocha, Vau, Três Irmãos, Torralta, Alvor and Marina - a distinction related to pedestrian access without obstacles for people with reduced mobility, parking orderly and with places reserved for vehicles at the service of people with reduced mobility, walkways over the sand and the existence of adapted sanitary facilities, among others.
This year Praia da Rocha again earned the Gold Quality Degree, awarded by the environmental association Quercus.
With easy access for the disabled, Praia da Rocha has a renovated 1,4-kilometer walkway, along which several restaurants and bars, a children's playground and two sports areas operate.
The work strengthened the attractions of Praia da Rocha, renewing the title Five Stars in its category, a distinction already received in 2019, the year in which it was the absolute national champion of the 'hashtags' on Instagram, with more than 62 thousand shares on this social network.
As a result of this assessment, the “Portugal Guia-Te 2022” is published online, now in its third edition, which highlights the merits of Praia da Rocha, such as “the fabulous panoramic view over the coastline, which can be enjoyed from one of the two viewpoints on the beach” , «the clean and clear sand, the crystalline waters that reflect all the shades of blue, the capricious rocks, the splendor of the sun, in a natural landscape that will take your breath away, such is the beauty», says the municipality.
In addition to these aspects, Praia da Rocha leads the list of tourist demand for holiday homes in Portuguese bathing areas for this summer, with an average of 12.100 queries/month on the Holidu.pt search engine.
