The first edition of the Bernardo Sassetti Jazz Festival, created and organized by Casa Bernardo Sassetti, will take place in Loulé, from the 28th to the 31st of July, but the objective is that this is «an itinerant festival that will take place, every year, in a different city in the country”.
During the four days of the festival, it will be possible to attend concerts by renowned jazz musicians such as Salvador Sobral, Rebecca Martin, Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos, Mário Barreiros, Mané Fernandes, Daniel Bernardes, among others.
In addition, the schedule will feature four Jam Sessions daily throughout the week. On the last day, July 31, the winner of the 4th edition of the Bernardo Sassetti Composition Prize will also be announced.
This event also has a training component through a workshop associated with the Festival, aimed at young musicians from 13 to 18 years old, which will start on the 25th of July, during working hours, and will have the pedagogical direction of pianist Daniel Bernardes.

The festival will be held in collaboration with Loulé Jazz and will have the support of the Loulé City Council, the Casa da Cultura de Loulé, the Cineteatro Louletano and the Loulé Music Conservatory.
«The first Bernardo Sassetti Jazz Festival has central characteristics that distinguish it from others. On the one hand, being itinerant guarantees that each annual edition takes place in a different city, involving the entire municipality, such as the municipality, the local theatre, the conservatory and jazz musicians from the region in question», explains Casa Bernardo Sassetti, adding that the training component will also always be part of the event.
