Loulé hosts the 1st Bernardo Sassetti Jazz Festival

Salvador Sobral is one of the confirmed names

Loulé will host, from the 28th to the 31st of July, the 1st edition of the Bernardo Sassetti Jazz Festival, with concerts at Cerca do Convento and at the Bafo de Baco bar.

At Cerca do Convento Espírito, one of the most virtuous Portuguese musicians today will take the stage: Salvador Sobral. But the public will be able to attend several concerts by renowned jazz names such as Rebecca Martin – an American singer who has recorded albums with musicians such as Paul Motian and Larry Grenadier-, Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos, Mário Barreiros, Mané Fernandes, Daniel Bernardes, among other artists. .

At Bar Bafo de Baco, the program will also feature four Jam Sessions daily throughout the week – the first to take place at the start of the festival – with different musicians opening each one. On the last day, July 31, the winner of the 4th edition of the Bernardo Sassetti Composition Prize will be announced.

And because the organization also intends to bring a more pedagogical side to the event, the focus will also be on the training component through a workshop associated with the Festival, aimed at young musicians from 13 to 18 years old, which will start on the 25th of July, at work, and will have the pedagogical direction of pianist Daniel Bernardes.

The Loulé Music Conservatory “Professor Francisco Rosado” will also be involved, providing rooms and instruments for this action. During the Festival there will be a presentation concert for the students of the course, as well as a concert by the musicians/teachers who taught. These will be challenged to play music by Bernardo Sassetti.
