Lagos launches new contract for the construction of housing at controlled costs

An investment of 1,5 million euros

The City Council is launching a new contract for the construction of housing at controlled costs, an investment estimated at 1,5 million euros. 

According to the municipality, the project will allow "to expand the housing stock, adding a new multifamily building with 12 dwellings, which will be "born" in the Chesgal Urbanization, in the middle of the urban expansion area of ​​the city of Lagos, close to of education and health'.

The public contract tender was approved at the last meeting of the municipal executive and, during the presentation, the president recalled the background to this process, which began with the acquisition, by the municipality, of two lots in this urbanization, where a total of 112 fires.

These actions are part of the Lagos Local Housing Strategy and are foreseen in the Great Options of the Plan for 2022, «which identifies housing as one of the main political priorities, with a view to improving the quality of life of the population, the competitiveness of the municipality and social and territorial cohesion», emphasizes the Municipality.

The component of the construction of dwellings foreseen in the EHL began with the construction of 17 dwellings in Bensafrim and Sargaçal (currently in the final phase).

In addition to these interventions, there is the rehabilitation of the municipal housing stock, within which, among others, two interventions are being carried out to improve the residential conditions of around 100 households.
