The Culture Market in Luz das Velas is back, from the 14th to the 17th of July, in Lagoa. More than 60 artisans from different cultures and religions will show their traditions, flavors and arts.
“Diverculturas & Diversons” is the theme of the initiative.
This unique cultural event aims to cover the cultural and sound diversity of the six cultures or geographic areas of the world that were highlighted in the six previous editions: Islamic culture, Jewish-Sephardic culture, Celtic culture, Silk Road, Africa and the Mediterranean.
Traditional music will be featured on the four stages (stages) of the event, with the presence of Lu Yanan (China), Kilema (Madagascar), Milo Ke Mandarini (Spain), El Laff (Morocco/Spain), Zé Francisco Trio Algibre, Banda Atlântica and Mónica Pereira (Portugal).
As in previous editions, there will be different contemplative spaces: Praceta das Velas (dedicated to Jewish culture), Rua do Oriente and Jardim Zen.
In addition, the entire event will have seven areas with more than 40 symbols designed with candles that aim to make known the religions, traditions, gastronomy and mythology of the 6 previous cultures that were present in previous editions, positioned at the entrances and in the meanders of the market. , constituting a spectacle of enormous visual beauty.
Gastronomy will also continue to play a leading role in this event. Thus, the cloisters of the Convento de São José will become a Celtic Tavern with craft beer and mead.
Also, the exhibition room of the Convento de São José will host an exhibition of paintings and collages called “Culturas do Mundo”, by Ana Paula Almeida.
The market area opens at 19:00 pm, closes at 00:30 am and the candles that constitute the symbols, which attract thousands of visitors to the market, are lit at 20:30 pm. Admission is free and more than 50 visitors are expected over the four days.
