The Cores of Faro, Albufeira and Portimão of the Liberal Initiative condemn the closure of the pediatric emergency department at the Hospital de Faro until sunday morning, saying that the SNS is «in constant imminent collapse in the Algarve». 

In a joint communiqué, these IL nuclei say that «it is absolutely essential to have profound and structural reforms aimed at modernizing the SNS and enabling a true universal health system that is accessible to all Algarve».

This is because, considers the Liberal Initiative, «there is not a day that goes by when there is no news about the closure of a health service» in the region.

«The reform of the SNS cannot be a quick-fix and cannot be limited by ideological dogmas that insist on keeping untouched an antiquated system that is not adapted to reality. It is essential to value health professionals according to their merit and empower institutions with greater autonomy", he says.
