Elderly woman dies after feeling unwell on Vale do Lobo beach

Death was declared at the scene

A 74-year-old woman died on the afternoon of this Monday, July 18, after feeling sick in the water, on the beach in Vale do Lobo (Loulé). 

The alert was given at 12:36 pm, realizing that a person was in cardiac arrest on the beach of Vale do Lobo.

“The victim, a 74-year-old woman, was pulled out of the water by lifeguards on the beach who promptly provided assistance and started resuscitation maneuvers for the victim”, until the arrival of INEM.

After several attempts at resuscitation, “it was not possible to reverse the situation” and death was eventually declared on the spot.

According to the National Maritime Authority, «the Public Ministry was contacted, and the body was transported by the Portuguese Red Cross to the Instituto de Medicina Legal de Faro».
