hospital of Faro there is no pediatric emergency until Sunday morning

Basic Emergency Services and Portimão Hospital are alternatives

The pediatric emergency department at the Hospital de Faro is closed from 21:00 pm today, Thursday, the 7th, until Sunday morning, "due to lack of doctors, pediatricians and general practitioners", revealed this Friday night on the social network Facebook Horácio Guerreiro, clinical director of the Center University Hospital of the Algarve.

“Children in need should go to the Basic Emergency Services (SUB) in Vila Real [de Santo António], Loulé, Albufeira and Lagos or to the emergency room in Portimão”, he added.

According to the same official, "despite all efforts and the appeal to higher authorities, it was not possible to gather enough doctors".

Even so, «the support for the two maternity hospitals is guaranteed. There will be Pediatricians in Portimão and there will be Pediatricians in intensive care and support for inpatient and delivery units in Faro».

“It is a deep sadness to reach this situation, but it is not for lack of diligence, because we knock on every door. We assume our own responsibilities. Perhaps others will have a different idea. We humbly apologize to our fellow citizens », concludes Horácio Guerreiro, in the publication he made on Facebook.
