The Minister for the Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, announced this Friday that there will be a reduction in water consumption in tourist resorts in the Algarve. The rationing agreed with the entrepreneurs should affect spaces that have a “large consumption of water”, such as golf courses and green spaces.
“A meeting was held between the Portuguese Environment Agency and a group of tourist resorts in the Algarve, where it was decided to ration and manage the limits of water consumption that they can adopt. This means that there is a limitation of water on the part of this sector”, pointed out the minister, at the end of a meeting of the Permanent Commission for the Prevention, Monitoring and Follow-up of the Effects of Drought (CPPMAES).
