Sardine Festival is back with «renewed image and lots of animation»

There will be a historical reenactment of the sardine unloading, which will allow visitors to get to know the local customs and traditions

The Sardinha Festival returns from the 3rd to the 7th of August to the riverside area of ​​Portimão, with a renewed image and lots of entertainment, with David Fonseca, Barbara Tinoco and David Carreira. 

During the five days of this event, organized by the Municipality of Portimão, grilled sardines dripping on bread will once again be king, accompanied by boiled potatoes and Algarve salad, served in the various restaurants in the area between bridges and in the stalls of associations and local clubs, which provide more than a thousand seats.

The entire riverside area, between the Portimão Museum and the old Lota, will be full of interesting attractions, from handicrafts to sweets, with lots of street entertainment and music, highlighting the national artists who will be on the main stage: João Leote and Marisa Liz (day 3), David Fonseca (day 4), Bárbara Tinoco (day 5), Wet Bed Gang (day 6) and David Carreira (day 7).

In addition to the venue that will have entertainment on the Sardinha stage, next to the restaurant, and the main stage, there will also be musical entertainment in the bandstand at Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes and in Jardim 1.º de Dezembro, while the children's area Petinga Park will attract the little ones to the area of ​​the old Lota de Portimão.

The day before, there will be historical reconstitution of the sardine discharge, which will allow visitors to know the local customs and traditions and It led to APOM – Portuguese Museology Association to award an honorable mention to the Portimão Museum in 2020, in the Innovation and Creativity category.

And it will be precisely the recreation of that unique moment that will precede, from 9 am on the 00nd of August, the official opening of this year's Festival, providing a trip to the past, with costumes, sayings and means of transport from a few decades ago, in which fifty extras will participate, followed by a large popular sardine, scheduled for 13 pm. 

In the late afternoon of that day, from 18:00, the band Lucky Duckies will perform, whose vintage repertoire includes themes from swing e rock n Roll.
