Descendants of Algarve emigrants in Argentina return with dance to Albufeira

A show that combines traditions from Commodore and Algarve is scheduled for next Saturday, the 23rd, at 21:30

Rancho Alma Algarvia of the Portuguese Association of Comodoro Rivadavia, founded in 1926 in Argentina, is back in Albufeira, with lots of dancing and entertainment.

On Saturday, July 23, at 21:30 pm, at Largo Eng. Duarte Pacheco, the Algarvians who emigrated to Argentina after World War I, present a show that combines traditions from the Comodoro and the Algarve.

The Associação Portuguesa de Comodoro Rivadavia, which was founded in 1926, brings Argentine and Portuguese folklore to Albufeira, as well as traditional tango, after having been here the last time in 2016.

Often referred to simply as “Commodore”, it is a city located in the Patagonian province of Chubut, in southern Argentina, on the Gulf of San Jorge, an inlet in the Atlantic Ocean.

«It is the largest city in Chubut, as well as the largest city south of the Equator. This city is an important point for exporting natural gas to Buenos Aires, through a 1.770-kilometre gas pipeline, which is why it has the National Petroleum Museum», says the Albufeira City Council in a press release.
