PSD deputies want to hear CHUA and ABC in Parliament

Parliamentarians consider that “ABC has contributed, over the years, to improving the provision of health care in the region”

The PSD deputies elected by the Algarve will call the members of the Board of Directors of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) and the management of the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) to the Health Commission due to the controversy between both institutions which, according to the Social Democrats, could lead to “the extinction of the ABC”.

The deputies Luís Gomes, Rui Cristina and Ofélia Ramos intend to hear, in the Health Commission, the heads of the two institutions to "obtain the necessary clarifications about the future of the consortium and the impact that its eventual term'.

If the differences between ABC and CHUA continue, «the end of the Integrated Master in Medicine will have serious consequences for the training of new doctors and their establishment in the Algarve, which is already heavily penalized by the lack of clinicians», says the PSD .

Moreover, parliamentarians consider “that the ABC has contributed, over the years, to improving the provision of health care in the region and was fundamental in the last two years of the pandemic with testing and screening actions at national level in the context of Covid-19. -XNUMX».
