There are 213 more active cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve (in a total of 8954), since the last week, revealed this Friday, July 8, the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region, in its weekly balance sheet report. epidemiological situation in the region.

From 00:00 on the 30th until midnight on the 7th of July, there were 3658 new cases of the disease in the Algarve region (603 less than the previous week), bringing the regional total accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic to 216.134.

As for deaths, there were 11 in the same period.

In the last week, however, there was a slowdown in the number of people recovered from Covid-19, which explains the slight increase in active cases. Thus, while in the previous period they had recovered 5702 people, in the latter there were 3434.

In Algarve hospitals, until 00:00 on Friday, there were 85 patients hospitalized due to Covid-19, which represents a double increase.

However, to what the Sul Informação found, this is just a new way of counting people infected with the coronavirus, since the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) has since this last week also started to report data on inpatients with Covid outside the wards dedicated to this pathology, which resulted in an increase of 42 patients in the total number of admissions.

Of the people hospitalized because of the coronavirus, only 2 are in Intensive Care, both ventilated.

Also according to the report, the Municipal Vaccination Centers in Albufeira continue to operate, Faro/Penha, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé and Tavira.

In the remaining municipalities (Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Monchique, Olhão, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel, Silves, Vila do Bispo and Vila Real de Santo António), vaccines are given at Health Centers.
